Jonathan Castillo was arrested after Child Protective Services were notified by officials at Westchester Medical Center that the child had been admitted with serious injuries, Spring Valley Police Officer Matthew Gail said.
A joint investigation by the police department and protective services was initiated and ended with the arrest of Castillo, said Gail.
He was charged with assault and criminal contempt and is being held on $500,000 bail.
